PLP001: Welcome to Pocket Lenses Podcast #1!

Play

pinterestThis is our first (dare I say “inaugural”?) introduction podcast. Hear about why we started this podcast and what to expect.

On this show, my wife Sandy and I discuss our conviction that you don’t need big, heavy camera gear to make great pictures. I’ve gotten so many repeat questions from family and friends on how to take better pictures with their Point & Shoot or Compact cameras, that I decided to create a website with all of my answers to those questions. Here you’ll find tips, tricks and techniques to make better pictures, gadget reviews, photo Q&As and much more.

Here are a few photos that I mentioned on this show:

At the end of the episode, I’ll give you a practical “Next Step” to significantly improve your photo skills. Don’t miss it, just get out there and do it!

Stay inspired and keep on shootin’!

Each time I follow Sonny and Sandy I am amazed at their ability to create simple, friendly, and practical tech tools. Pocket Lenses is another example of their brilliance!

Very nice first episode, Sonny! (And Sandy too!) You talk about having GAS. I do suffer from the same thing, but mine is musically related. I’m finding myself always wanting to get that new instrument, or that new piece of electronic gear… but then it sits around and I do nothing with it. Seeing as I’m listening to your first three episodes in a row, I don’t have the ‘advantage’ of doing the assignments in the “timely” manner of your podcasts. But that doesn’t mean I won’t do them. I forgot to grab my camera this morning, but I’ll make an effort to have it in my car. My office does not allow cameras.

I saw the website, didn’t realize it was also a podcast (tho, given its Sonny, it is not a real surprise). I added the podcast in a prominent position in my podcatcher playlist so I’ll get to listening to this shortly.

FYI I found the podcast listed in the search for the BeyondPod Android App (not sure what it uses in the back end), so the listing is definitely spreading.

GREAT first episode Sonny! I listened to this yesterday on my lunch break with some coworkers. Since we are all repair technicians at the “fruit stand” aka the “iStore” learning to get more out of smart phones is HUGE to us. Very impressed with the quality of the podcast, and variety of information. Now that smart phones have replaced a point and shoot for many people, your website and podcast are invaluable. My favorite part of the podcast is the “homework” which makes it interactive. Perhaps a listener gallery on your website soon?

Good luck on your new endeavor. I look forward to listening to your podcasts, in between listening to Podcacher!

Great to hear the team on a brand new podcast – and what is so encouraging – Sonny has been sharing these types of tips on photography on his awesome and professional Geocaching blog for years. So we can only expect the same from this site.

Good luck and I look forward to another long and rewardin relationship.

    Greeting from Africa!

I love photography but I never really took the time to play with settings to adjust the photo in camera. Pocket Lens has given me the much needed push to start doing this. Thanks Sonny for producing my second favorite podcast.
